RoseHaven, a Christian ministry, opened its doors in June of 1999 with a mission of reaching hurting women and children whose lives have been disrupted by domestic abuse, divorce, homelessness or unplanned pregnancy.  It is open to women in Henry, Oldham, and Trimble Counties, regardless of religious creed, race, age, marital status or ability to pay.

RoseHaven is staffed 24 hours a day and provides not only shelter and food but  “gives women and children a nurturing place to live while they gain emotional and financial security, “ says Center Executive Director Betty Decker.  “Until now the closest facilities have been in Louisville or Shelby County, requiring women to live far from their jobs, families, friends, and other support groups.”

Residents are expected to attend school or to hold a job in preparation for establishing new independent lives.  If necessary, we provide assistance in developing job skills and/or completing schooling.  “Our experience has shown us that women who need shelter often need to stay in a transitional setting for six to nine months or more,” Decker says.  “We want to provide emotional support and security, as well as the counseling these  women need during that time.”

When more help is required, women are also referred to a vast network of social service agencies.  In addition, women at RoseHaven are offered the opportunity to attend weekly Bible Studies, although they are not required to attend these sessions or to subscribe to any specific religious belief.

We believe that in our brokenness we can come to know the love of God through Jesus. Because He lives, we can experience emotional and spiritual healing.

The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to bring good news to the afflicted. He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the physical and spiritual captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.

To grant consolation and joy to those who grieve in Zion. Giving them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and the garment of praise instead of despair.
Isaiah 61: 1,3
